This standard specifies the requirements for MOVs used in low-voltage electrical equipment, including:

This standard applies to metal oxide varistors (hereinafter referred to as MOVs) used in electrical equipment with an AC voltage not exceeding 1,000 V (rms) and 50/60 Hz, and/or a DC voltage not exceeding 1,500 V, for suppressing transient overvoltages and protecting the safety of electrical equipment.
Metal oxide varistors used in low-voltage surge protectors shall comply with the requirements of GB/T 18802.331.
