Scope

This standard specifies the types of information on the use and maintenance of steel wire ropes that should be provided by steel wire rope manufacturers; or, when the steel wire rope is part of a machine, equipment, or device, the types of information on the use and maintenance of the steel wire rope should be included in the manufacturer's user manual.
This standard does not apply to steel wire rope slings and steel wire ropes manufactured before the publication of this standard.
