Scope

This standard specifies the classification, materials, requirements, test methods, inspection rules, and marking, packaging, transportation, and storage of shelf-type racks.
This standard applies to shelf-type racks (hereinafter referred to as racks) that are manually accessible for storage and made of steel sections, consisting of components such as columns, beams, or crossbeams, and shelves.
This standard does not apply to integrated storage and shelving systems or mobile racks, nor to racks designed for personnel climbing.
