Scope

This document specifies the technical requirements for plugs, sockets, and couplers with arc-shaped contacts, including their structure, mechanical performance, and electrical performance.
This document applies to plugs, sockets, connectors, and appliance input sockets (hereinafter referred to as electrical accessories) with standard-structured arc-shaped contacts, primarily intended for commercial use in indoor environments where water is generally absent, with a rated working voltage of no more than 600 V and a frequency of 50 Hz or 60 Hz AC, and a rated current of 20 A and 30 A.
This document applies to electrical accessories used in environments with a typical temperature range of -25°C to +40°C. These electrical accessories are intended to be connected only to copper or copper alloy cables.
The requirements for interchangeability are defined only for electrical accessories with a protection rating of IP20.
Note: The basic conditions for indoor use are based on the specifications in Table T51A and AD1 of IEC 60364-5-51:2005.
Sockets or appliance input sockets installed in or fixed to electrical equipment are within the scope of this document.
