Scope

This part of GB/T 11918 specifies the technical requirements for the structure, mechanical performance, and electrical performance of plugs, sockets, and couplers used in industrial applications. This part applies to plugs and sockets, cable couplers, and appliance couplers primarily intended for industrial use, suitable for indoor and outdoor applications with a rated working voltage not exceeding 1,000 V DC or AC and 500 Hz AC, and a rated current not exceeding 800 A. These accessories are intended to be installed and used only by trained [electrical] personnel (GB/T 2900.73–2008, Definition 1950402) or skilled [electrical] technicians (GB/T 2900.73–2008, Definition 1950401). The listed preferred ratings do not exclude other ratings. This part applies to plugs and sockets, cable couplers, and appliance couplers (hereinafter referred to as electrical accessories) used in environments with a typical temperature range of -25°C to +40°C. These electrical accessories are intended to be connected only to copper or copper alloy cables. This part applies to electrical accessories with a rated current not exceeding 32 A in Series I and 30 A in Series II, equipped with non-threaded terminals or insulated penetrating terminals. These electrical accessories may also be used on construction sites or for agricultural, commercial, or household purposes. Sockets or appliance input sockets installed in electrical equipment or fixed to electrical equipment are within the scope of this part. This part also applies to electrical accessories intended for use in extra-low voltage devices. This part does not apply to electrical accessories primarily intended for household use or similar general purposes. In special environments, such as on ships or in areas prone to explosions, additional requirements may be necessary.
