Scope

This standard specifies the requirements, test methods, and inspection rules for ultrasound therapy equipment.
This standard applies to ultrasound therapy equipment (hereinafter referred to as the equipment) that generates continuous or quasi-continuous ultrasound energy using planar circular ultrasonic transducers in a frequency range of 0.5 MHz to 5 MHz. This standard does not apply to equipment with an effective sound intensity greater than 3 W/cm2 or equipment that uses focused ultrasound waves.
