GB 12476.7-2010 Electrical apparatus for use in the presence of combustible dust—Part 7:Type of protection "pD"
Basic Information
Scope
This part of GB 12476 specifies the requirements for the design, structure, testing, and marking of electrical equipment used in flammable dust environments. It stipulates that a certain protective gas (air or inert gas) should be filled in the equipment enclosure to maintain a pressure higher than that of the external environment, so as to prevent dust from entering the enclosure where there are no sources of flammable dust release and avoid the formation of a flammable dust environment inside the enclosure.
This part also specifies the specific requirements for structure and testing, including the protective requirements for positive-pressure protection type "pD" electrical equipment intended for use in flammable dust environments.
This part applies to the structural requirements of the enclosure and its associated components. If applicable, it also includes the intake and exhaust gas pipes for the protective gas, as well as the requirements necessary to ensure the formation of positive pressure and maintain the safety of the positive-pressure protection type "pD".
This part does not apply to the requirements for positive-pressure enclosures with internal sources of dust release.
This part does not apply to positive-pressure rooms with or without internal sources of dust release.
This part does not apply to pyrotechnic dust or self-igniting substances that do not require oxygen in the atmosphere to burn.
This part does not address the hazards of flammable gas and dust mixtures.
