GB/T 12476.8-2010 Electrical apparatus for use in the presence of combustible dust—Part 8:Test methods—Methods for determining the minimum ignition temperatures of dust
Basic Information
Scope
This part of GB 12476 specifies two test methods for determining the minimum ignition temperature of dust.
This method is not applicable to substances with explosive properties.
Method A (Chapter 4) is suitable for determining the minimum decomposition temperature and/or ignition temperature of dust that will cause a dust layer of a specified thickness to deposit on a specified hot surface. This method is particularly suitable for dust in the form of a thin dust layer on the hot surface of industrial equipment exposed to the environment.
Method B (Chapter 5) is suitable for determining the minimum ignition temperature of dust clouds or other solid particle samples. This test is an additional test conducted after determining the minimum ignition temperature of the dust layer using Method A of this part.
Notes on Method B:
Note 1: Since the operation method of the constant temperature furnace determines that the dust particles stay in the furnace for a short time, this test method is suitable for dust clouds existing in industrial equipment for a short time. This test method is on a small scale, and its results may not represent all industrial conditions.
Note 2: This method is not applicable to dust formed from aggregated gases during high-temperature decomposition or smoldering that may exceed the time specified in this test method.
