Scope
This standard specifies the requirements, test methods, inspection rules, marking, packaging, transportation, and storage for molded rubber covers used in wheel cylinders of automotive hydraulic brake systems.
This standard applies to drum brake covers and disc brake covers for non-petroleum-based brake fluids, as well as the test methods for evaluating their performance.
This standard does not apply to brake cylinder rubber covers made from petroleum-based brake fluids or rubber covers bonded to reinforcing layers.
