GB/T 18380.12-2022 Tests on electric and optical fibre cables under fire conditions—Part 12:Test for vertical flame propagation for a single insulated wire or cable—Procedure for 1 kW pre-mixed flame
Basic Information
Scope
This document describes the test method for the vertical flame spread of a single insulated wire, cable, or optical cable under flame conditions. The test device is specified in IEC 60332-1-1.
Note 1: If necessary, the tests in this document can be conducted simultaneously with those in GB/T 18380.13.
Appendix A provides recommended performance requirements.
This document specifies the standard use of a 1 kW pre-mixed flame, and is not applicable to small-scale single wires or cables with a total cross-sectional area of less than 0.5 mm2, as their conductors may melt before the end of the test, nor to fine optical cables, as the cables may break before the end of the test. In these cases, the test method specified in IEC 60332-2-2 is applicable.
Note 2: The use of wires or cables that can delay flame spread and meet the requirements of this document is not sufficient to guarantee that the wires or cables can prevent flame spread under all installation conditions. Therefore, in some high-risk scenarios of flame spread, such as the vertical installation of large-length bundled cables, special devices are also needed for prevention. Cable samples that meet the recommended performance requirements of this document do not indicate that their bundled flame retardant performance is also qualified (see GB/T 18380.31~GB/T 18380.36).
