本文件规定了使用人体掌纹图像进行生物特征辨识或验证技术的图像交换格式，可用于掌纹图像数据的交换、比对。
本文件规定了用于掌纹图像交换的内容和测量单位。交换格式由必选项和可选项组成，包括扫描参数、压缩或未压缩图像规范以及特定供应商信息。
按照本文件进行编译和格式化的信息可记录在机器可读的媒体上，也可在数据通信设备上进行传输。
本文件还规定了适用于上述数据记录交换格式的符合性测试方法，测试断言和测试程序。包括：
——按照本文件第8章规定的掌纹图像数据格式的测试断言；
