Scope

This document specifies the image exchange format for biometric identification or verification technologies using human palmprint images, which can be used for the exchange and comparison of palmprint image data.
This document specifies the content and measurement units used for palmprint image exchange. The exchange format consists of mandatory and optional items, including scanning parameters, compressed or uncompressed image specifications, and specific vendor information.
Information compiled and formatted in accordance with this document can be recorded on machine-readable media and transmitted via data communication devices.
This document also specifies the compliance test methods, test assertions, and test procedures applicable to the aforementioned data recording exchange formats. These include:
—— Test assertions in accordance with the palmprint image data format specified in Chapter 8 of this document;
—— Test the internal compliance of assertions by checking the types of values that may be contained in each field;
—— Semantic assertion testing.
The compliance test methods specified in this document do not include:
—— Tests of other characteristics or other types of biometric products (such as acceptance, performance, stability, and security);
—— Compliance tests that result in data records that do not comply with the provisions of this document.
This document applies to palmprint biometric identification manufacturers in the storage, recording, and transmission stages of palmprint biometric image data exchange. It also applies to testing institutions, end users, and palmprint biometric identification manufacturers in conducting compliance tests.
