Scope

This document specifies the image exchange format used for biometric identity recognition or verification technologies based on human blood vessel biometric images, which can be used for the exchange and comparison of blood vessel image data. This document defines a data recording exchange format for storing, recording, and transmitting blood vessel biometric information from one or multiple areas of the human body. This document specifies the content, format, and units of measurement for image exchange. The exchange format consists of mandatory and optional items, including scanning parameters, compressed or uncompressed image descriptions, and vendor-specific information. The data exchange format specified in this document can be recorded on machine-readable media and transmitted via data communication devices. This document also specifies compliance testing methods, test assertions, and test procedures applicable to the aforementioned data recording exchange format. These include: -- Test assertions according to the blood vessel image data format structure specified in Chapter 8 of this document; -- Testing the internal compliance of test assertions by checking the types of values that may be contained in each field; -- Semantic assertion testing. The compliance testing methods specified in this document do not include: -- Testing other characteristics or types of biometric products (e.g., acceptance, performance, stability, security); -- Compliance testing that results in data records that do not comply with the specifications of this document. This document applies to blood vessel biometric identification manufacturers in the storage, recording, and transmission stages of blood vessel biometric image data exchange. It also applies to testing institutions, end users, and blood vessel biometric identification manufacturers for compliance testing purposes.
