Scope

This standard specifies the equipment, gas supply, samples, test process, calculation of mass change, analysis of mass change, evaluation of samples after the test, and test reports for isothermal exposure oxidation tests of metal materials under high-temperature corrosion conditions.
This standard applies to the thermal cycling corrosion test (i.e., cyclic oxidation test) method for metal materials in a gaseous environment from ambient temperature to high temperature (each sample undergoes a series of repeated, regular, and controlled temperature cycles). After making appropriate adjustments, it can also be used for testing other materials.
This standard does not apply to tests with extremely short holding times (a few minutes or seconds).
