Scope

This document specifies the acceptance and reinspection tests for the performance of articulated arm coordinate measuring machines. This document applies to articulated arm coordinate measuring machines equipped with contact probes and optional optical distance sensor accessories (also known as line laser scanners or line laser probes). The acceptance test verifies the manufacturer's specified performance by measuring the calibrated test length. The reinspection test allows users to regularly reinspect the performance of the articulated arm coordinate measuring machines. Detailed information on the scanner accessory test is provided in Appendix E. This document does not specify the frequency and cycle of the tests, nor does it stipulate which party should bear the cost of the tests. This document stipulates: -- The performance requirements of articulated arm coordinate measuring machines specified by the manufacturer or user; -- The execution methods of the acceptance and reinspection tests used to prove the specified requirements; -- The rules for determining compliance; -- The application of the acceptance and reinspection tests.
