Scope

This standard specifies the safety, inspection, maintenance, and operation requirements for all types and specifications of mobile elevating work platforms (hereinafter referred to as MEWPs) used to transport personnel, tools, and materials to work positions and to carry out work on work platforms. The MEWP consists of at least a controllable work platform, an extension structure, and a chassis.
This standard applies to the safety inspection, equipment maintenance, and operation of MEWPs.
