Scope

This document describes the test method for evaluating the environmental stress cracking (ESC) resistance of thermoplastic materials when the strain of the tensile specimen increases slowly at a constant rate in a chemical medium. This document is applicable to specimens prepared by molding and/or machining, and is used to determine the ESC resistance of plastics exposed to different environments and the ESC resistance of different plastics exposed to specific environmental conditions.
