GB/T 43316.4-2023 Plastics—Determination of resistance to environmental stress cracking(ESC)—Part 4:Ball or pin impression method
Basic Information
Scope
This document describes a test method for determining the environmental stress cracking (ESC) resistance of plastics by using a ball or needle to indent the plastic and generate constant strain.
This document is applicable to:
——molded and/or machined samples;
——comparison of the environmental stress cracking resistance of plastic raw materials or products in different environments, and can also be used to compare the environmental stress cracking resistance of different plastic materials in specific environments;
——amorphous plastics.
The needle indentation method is more suitable for determining the ESC performance of semi-crystalline plastics than the ball indentation method:
——the needle indentation method is suitable for testing the ESC performance of samples and products with a smaller thickness;
——the ball indentation method is suitable for evaluating the environmental stress cracking resistance of corresponding raw materials/chemicals.
This document is not applicable to plastics with obvious creep and/or stress relaxation tendencies, that is, semi-crystalline plastics.
