Scope

This standard specifies the technical requirements, test methods, packaging, marking, storage, transportation, and safety of perfluoropropane. This standard applies to perfluoropropane products prepared by fluorination of hexafluoropropene or heptafluoropropane and purified through processes such as distillation, adsorption, and catalysis, as well as perfluoropropane products synthesized by the direct reaction of carbon and fluorine. It is used as an etching gas or cleaning gas in plasma etching processes in the electronics industry. Molecular formula: C3F8. Relative molecular mass: 188.017 (based on the 2011 International Relative Atomic Mass).
