Scope

This standard specifies the requirements and recommendations for the design, materials, construction, testing, operation, maintenance, and decommissioning of pipeline transportation systems in the oil and gas industry. This standard applies to onshore and offshore pipeline systems. They connect production wells, oil extraction plants, processing plants, refineries, and storage facilities, including any section of pipeline used for connection purposes within the scope of the aforementioned facilities. The scope of the pipeline systems to which this standard applies is shown in Figure 1.
