Basic Information
Scope
This standard sets out the rules for the international coding system for lamps and relates to all types of lamps, except those used in motor vehicles. This standard specifies the coding for the main types of lamps; for other types of lamps, the coding should be carried out in accordance with the applicable revised version of this standard. The purpose of the international coding system for lamps is to: - Improve the transmission of information about different types of lamps; - Facilitate discussions on the interchangeability of products; - Create a closer relationship between international standards and manufacturers' documentation (for example, the coding could be provided in the relevant sections of a standard in the future); - Enable the correct replacement of lamps; - Be used as supplementary markings on lamps; - Replace national and regional coding systems.
