Scope

This standard specifies the performance requirements for towing devices installed on earthmoving machinery listed in GB/T 8498, as well as the requirements for verification tests. Wire ropes with a diameter of ≤40 mm can be used to tow a large earthmoving machine that has lost control or gotten stuck (this is typically the maximum size that a person can use to connect the towing rope to the machine by hand). This standard applies to towing devices installed on machines with a towing capacity of not more than 106 N. Their value should meet the minimum breaking strength of Group 3 wire ropes with a diameter of 40 mm and a steel core specified in GB/T 20118.
