Scope

This part of GB/T 38281 specifies the technical requirements for the structure, electrical performance, and mechanical performance of indicator devices for fixed electrical installations for household and similar purposes.
This part applies to standalone indicator devices intended to provide a visible signal. The device is designed for indoor or outdoor use in household and similar fixed electrical installations, and is only suitable for AC power with a rated voltage not exceeding 440 V and a rated power not exceeding 10 W.
Note 1: The indicator devices within the scope of this part are not used as light sources for illumination [see GB 7000].
This part also applies to installation boxes with indicator devices, except for flush-mounted installation boxes with flush-mounted indicator devices [according to GB/T 17466].
This part does not apply to indicator devices installed on products that meet their own standards, which should be tested as components of the products.
Indicator devices that comply with this part are suitable for use in environments with a normal temperature not exceeding 35 °C, and occasionally reaching 40 °C.
In special conditions, such as on ships, in vehicles, and in potentially explosive hazardous areas, special structures may be required.
Note 2: LEDs and lamps are not considered indicator devices, but are only used as components.
