Basic Information
Scope
This part of GB/T 20935 provides an overview of the principles, significance, and applications of specific ultrasonic inspections using electromagnetic acoustic transducers (EMAT), and specifies the application conditions, equipment, calibration, inspection methods, result determination, and inspection reports. This part is suitable for situations where users believe that the use of electromagnetic acoustic transducer technology is superior to traditional piezoelectric technology; it is not suitable for situations where traditional technology is more advantageous. This part is applicable to all materials that can generate sound waves by electromagnetic methods, including ferromagnetic or non-ferromagnetic metal materials. Note: This part introduces some proven applications of electromagnetic acoustic transducer technology, but does not imply that these technologies are the best or the only ones. It simply provides some application options.
