Scope

This part of GB/T 20935 provides an overview of the principles, significance, and applications of using electromagnetic ultrasonic transducer (EMAT) technology to detect surface discontinuities (such as cracks, fissures, folds, cold seams, delamination, leakage, and non-fusion) in materials, as well as near-surface discontinuities within a range of less than or equal to the surface wave wavelength. It also specifies the application conditions, techniques, devices, calibration, detection methods, result determination, and inspection reports. This part is applicable to the detection of products during the production process, the detection of final products, and the detection of repairs. It is also applicable to non-contact detection technologies that use electromagnetic methods to excite surface waves in materials, and the materials to which these technologies are applicable, including non-ferromagnetic and ferromagnetic conductive materials.
