Scope

This guidance technical document covers various aspects such as the operating conditions, technical requirements, test procedures, testing equipment, tests (type, routine, acceptance, regular, sampling), and packaging and transportation of gapless metal oxide arresters used in 1000 kV AC systems.
This guidance technical document is applicable to porcelain-encased gapless metal oxide arresters and tank-type arresters used in GIS systems (hereinafter referred to as arresters), which are designed to limit overvoltages in 1000 kV AC systems.
