Scope
This document describes the method for determining the 2-position fatty acid (β or internal position) component of triglyceride molecules in animal and plant oils.
This document is applicable to oils containing saturated and unsaturated fatty acids with four to twenty-two carbon atoms and a melting point below 50 °C.
This document is not applicable to oils containing the following components:
—— Fatty acids with fewer than four carbon atoms;
—— Fatty acids with more than twenty-two carbon atoms;
—— Fatty acids containing hydroxyl groups (e.g., castor oil acid).
