Basic Information
Scope
The content of the first part of this chapter is replaced as follows:
This part of GB/T 19436 specifies the special requirements for the design, manufacture, and testing of electrically sensitive protective equipment (ESPE) used with active optoelectronic protective devices (AOPDs) as components of specially designed safety-related systems. It is particularly important to ensure that the ESPE achieves appropriate safety-related performance based on its characteristics. ESPE may include optional safety functions, the requirements for which are given in GB/T 19436.1—2013 and Appendix A of this part.
This part does not specify the size or shape of the detection zone, the arrangement of hazardous components in any specific application, or the conditions that constitute a dangerous mechanical state. It is limited to the functionality of ESPE and how it is connected to machinery.
This part does not include AOPDs that use radiation wavelengths outside the range of 400 nm to 1,500 nm.
This part may be relevant to applications other than human protection, such as protecting machinery or products from mechanical damage. In these applications, additional requirements may be necessary, such as materials that must be recognized by the sensitive function and possess characteristics different from those of humans.
This standard does not address the emission requirements of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC).
