Scope

This standard specifies the requirements and recommended practices for steel structural components in drilling and workover operations in the petroleum industry, providing a unified method for determining the design rated values of steel structures and giving two product specification grades.
This standard applies to all newly designed standard steel derricks, special derricks, portable derricks, drawworks, and bases.
Appendix A contains supplementary requirements, which only apply if specified by the purchaser in the contract.
