Scope

This document specifies the methods for direct and indirect testing of Leeb hardness testers (hereinafter referred to as hardness testers) in accordance with GB/T 17394.1. Direct testing is used to check whether the performance parameters of the hardness tester are within the specified range. Indirect testing uses the hardness values of standard Leeb hardness blocks calibrated according to GB/T 17394.3 to check the overall performance of the hardness tester in the direction of gravity. Indirect testing can be independently applied to regular routine inspections of hardness testers in use. This document is applicable to hardness testers with impact devices of types D, S, E, D+15, DL, C, and G.
