Scope
This standard specifies the marking rules and methods for cables and insulated cores/conductors used in industrial installations, equipment, and products. The marking is intended to provide a clear correspondence between technical documents and actual equipment, as well as for other purposes. The following methods are specified and described:
a) The use of colored cables and insulated cores with markings;
b) Additional identification markings;
c) Additional connection markings;
d) Additional signal markings.
This standard applies to the marking of cables and insulated cores/conductors used in industrial installations, equipment, and products.
This standard does not include the physical design of markings, the materials used, or the regulations of cable manufacturers regarding the external packaging of cables and conductors.
