Scope

This standard specifies the classification and designations of carburized bearing steel, order content, dimensions, shape, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, packaging, marking, and quality certificates. This standard applies to hot-rolled, forged, cold-drawn, and bright-annealed round steel (hereinafter referred to as steel) used for manufacturing bearing rings and rolling elements. Upon mutual agreement between the supplier and the buyer, steel of other grades and sizes may also be supplied, and the specific requirements should be specified in the contract.
