Scope

This standard specifies the content, methods, and procedures for external corrosion detection of buried steel gas pipelines, including general provisions, data collection, corrosion location prediction, excavation detection, determination of detection cycles, recordkeeping and reporting, and appendices. This standard applies to dry gas transmission pipelines where a small amount of liquid water (or other electrolytes) is present due to short-term abnormalities. External corrosion detection of steel gas pipelines laid on the ground can be carried out in accordance with this standard.
