Scope

This document describes the test method for evaluating the performance of electrostatic discharge shielding bags in accordance with the requirements of IEC 61340-53. The set voltage of the test device is 1,000 V DC. This test method is also applicable to other flexible packaging besides shielding bags. The purpose of this document is to ensure that testing laboratories can obtain similar results when testing a given packaging material. This document is not applicable to shielding protection against electromagnetic interference (EMI), radio frequency interference (RFI), electromagnetic pulses (EMP), or volatile substances.
