GB/T 5169.27-2008 Fire hazard testing for electric and electronic products—Part 27:Smoke obscuration—Small-scale static test—Description of the apparatus
Basic Information
Scope
This part of GB/T 5169 describes the instruments, calibration procedures, and basic test processes used to determine the specific optical density of smoke generated when materials are exposed vertically to radiant heat sources (whether or not a flame is used for ignition). The dimensions of the test samples have been determined. The measurement of optical density is carried out in a controlled pressure control box that has been calibrated with reference materials in advance.
This method is only applicable to solid, non-metallic flat samples. It is not suitable for non-flat samples, such as insulated wires and cables, as such products cannot achieve a uniform heat flux distribution.
This part does not provide a grading system for materials.
This method is not applicable to materials that melt and flow away under the direct impact of heat flow, as it cannot obtain repeatable results.
