Scope

This part, together with GB 10395.1—2009, specifies the safety requirements and evaluation methods for rotary disc mowers and drum mowers used for harvesting forage crops, as well as horizontal-shaft flail mowers. It describes methods of eliminating or reducing the hazards caused by improper human operation and foreseeable misoperation during normal use or maintenance. In addition, it stipulates the types of safety operation information that manufacturers need to provide.
This part includes horizontal-shaft flail mowers that can only be opened from the rear during maintenance.
This part also applies to mowers equipped with conditioning devices.
This part only applies to mowers used for ground work; see the examples given in Appendix A.1
Where the requirements set forth in this part differ from those stated in GB 10395.1—2009, the requirements of this part shall take precedence over those of GB 10395.1-2009 for machines designed and manufactured in accordance with the requirements of this part.
This part, together with GB 10395.1—2009, covers all major hazards (see Table 1), dangerous states, and dangerous events other than noise and vibration related to rotary mowers, drum mowers, and flail mowers during normal use, which may result from improper operation by the operator (as reasonably foreseeable by the manufacturer, see Chapter 4).
This part does not apply to the following machines (see the examples given in A.2):
——Flail mowers with rear openings adapted to specific work sites;
——Mowers with articulated arms;
——Mowers designed with one or more vertical shafts for achieving coverage;
——Electric mowers controlled by stepper motors;
——Lawn mowers;
——Row-between weeding machines;
——Special machines for highway and road maintenance.
This part does not address environmental hazards, road safety, or hazards related to power transmission moving parts. It does not address various hazards
