Scope

This part of GB/T 18494 provides users with information on the differences between converter transformers used in industry and HVDC transmission and conventional transformers used in power systems in terms of design, structure, testing, and operation. In addition, it also provides manufacturers with the technical background of GB/T 18494.1 and GB/T 18494.2.
This part is intended to supplement GB/T 13499, "Guidelines for the Application of Power Transformers", but does not replace GB/T 13499, as the general principles contained in GB/T 13499 are also applicable to converter transformers.
