Scope

This standard specifies the dimensions, shapes, and allowable deviations of carbon steel wires used for reinforcing optical cables, as well as technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, packaging, marking, and quality certificates.
This standard applies to galvanized and phosphated round carbon steel wires (hereinafter referred to as "steel wires") used for reinforcing fiber optic cables and for similar purposes.
