Scope

This document describes the conversion rules for generating ASN.1 (Abstract Syntax Notation One) from an ISO 20022-compatible message definition. The generated abstract syntax supports message description and validity verification.
The conversion rule is a deterministic conversion from the third layer to the fourth layer, which means that the ASN.1 tags generated by a given message definition are completely predictable, without the need for manual input or adjustment of the conversion results.
This document is equivalent to the ASN.1 generation rules specified in ISO 20022-4, where the abstract syntax in ISO 20022-4 is generated in XML Schema, while here it is in ASN.1. In ISO 20022-4, XML is only supported in UTF-8 encoding format, while this document's ASN.1 supports multiple encoding formats. In addition to standard encoding formats, it also includes the ability to register custom encodings in the ECN.
