GB/T 15597.1-2024 Plastics—Poly(methyl methacrylate)(PMMA) moulding and extrusion materials—Part 1:Designation system and basis for specifications

Scope

This document specifies the naming system for polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) thermoplastic materials.
The types of PMMA plastics are distinguished based on the values of the following characteristic properties and the related intended uses/processing methods, important performance characteristics, additives, and colorants:
a) Vicat softening temperature;
b) Melt mass flow rate;
c) Viscosity (optional).
This document applies to PMMA homopolymers, as well as copolymers that contain at least 80% methyl methacrylate (MMA) by mass and no more than 20% acrylate or other monomers by mass.
This document applies to materials in granular form and unmodified materials, as well as materials modified with colorants, additives, etc.
This document does not apply to elastomer-modified PMMA.
Materials with the same name in this method may not necessarily have the same performance. This document (GB/T 15597) does not provide engineering data, performance data, or processing conditions required for materials intended for special uses/processing methods.
If these additional performance requirements are needed, they can be determined using the methods specified in Part 2 of GB/T 15597.
