Basic Information
Scope
This document describes a non-destructive semi-quantitative method for determining the main metal element content in metal materials used for restoration using a handheld energy-dispersive X-ray fluorescence analyzer.
This document is applicable to the semi-quantitative analysis of the main metal element content in metal materials used for fabricating oral restoration devices and restorations, including precious metals and their alloys (gold-based alloys, palladium-based alloys, etc.), non-precious metals and their alloys (cobalt-based alloys, nickel-based alloys, titanium and titanium alloys, etc.).
This document is also applicable to the semi-quantitative analysis of the main metal element content in dental restoration devices and restorations made from metal materials, such as crowns/bridges, metal frameworks, porcelain inlays, bridges, etc.
This document is not applicable to metal elements with an elemental content of less than 1% (by mass).
This document is applicable to metal elements within the content ranges listed in Table 1.
