Scope
This document specifies the instrumentation and equipment for measuring the mineral composition of sulfide minerals by electron probe, sample preparation, reference standards, selection of analysis and testing conditions, correction of spectral line overlapping, analysis steps, result processing, and inspection reports. This document is applicable to the quantitative analysis of sulfide minerals that are stable under electron beam bombardment, as well as arsenides, antimonides, bismuthides, tellurides, selenides, and other minerals. This document is suitable for quantitative analysis using electron probes, and it is also applicable to quantitative analysis conducted by scanning electron microscopes equipped with spectrometers.
