Scope

This document provides guidelines for measuring the spectral responsivity (SR) of multi-junction photovoltaic devices.
This document is applicable to non-concentrator multi-junction photovoltaic devices. Some content in this document may also be applicable to concentrator multi-junction photovoltaic devices. When analyzing the measured current-voltage characteristics of multi-junction photovoltaic devices, spectral responsivity is required.
IEC 60904-8 specifies the requirements for measuring the spectral responsivity of single-junction photovoltaic devices, while this document stipulates additional requirements for measuring the spectral responsivity of multi-junction photovoltaic devices. This document only describes the measurement of the spectral responsivity of each single junction in two-terminal multi-junction photovoltaic devices.
For photovoltaic devices designed for use under concentrator conditions, this document may still be applicable if they are measured without concentrator optical elements.
