Scope

This document specifies the procedure for measuring the current-voltage characteristics (I-V curves) of photovoltaic devices under natural sunlight or simulated sunlight, which is applicable to individual photovoltaic cells, photovoltaic cell strings, or photovoltaic modules.
This document is suitable for ground-mounted non-concentrating single-junction single-side photovoltaic devices, whose spectral irradiance is typically (but not limited to) the AM1.5 standard spectral total irradiance defined in IEC 60904-3. If the application uses direct sunlight and the spectral irradiance reference is changed to the AM1.5d standard spectral direct irradiance in IEC 60904-3, then this document can also be applied to concentrating photovoltaic devices.
