Scope

This standard specifies the requirements, test methods, inspection rules, marking, packaging, transportation, storage, quality certificates, and the contents of purchase orders (or contracts) for zone-melted germanium ingots.
This standard applies to zone-melted germanium ingots prepared by the zone-melt purification process using reduced germanium ingots and germanium single-crystal scrap as raw materials. ZGe-0 zone-melted germanium ingots are mainly used for preparing high-purity germanium single crystals for semiconductors and high-purity germanium detectors; ZGe-1 zone-melted germanium ingots are mainly used for preparing germanium single crystals for infrared optics and solar cells, as well as various germanium-chromium and germanium-silicon alloys.
