Scope

This part of GB/T 5169 provides guidance on the factors affecting the fire toxicity hazard of electrical and electronic products; at the same time, it also provides the methods recommended by ISO/TC 92 (SC 3) for assessing and reducing the fire toxicity hazard, which are described in ISO 19706, ISO 13344, and ISO 13571.
There is no single test that can truly assess the fire toxicity hazard. Small-scale toxicity tests alone cannot assess the fire toxicity hazard. Current toxicity tests aim to measure the toxic effects of combustion streams generated in the laboratory. However, toxic effects should not be confused with toxicity hazards.
