Basic Information
Scope
This document sets out the safety requirements and measures for continuous processing woodworking machines (hereinafter referred to as "machines") to reduce the hazards arising during their operation, adjustment, maintenance, transportation, assembly, loading and unloading, decommissioning, and scrapping. These safety requirements and measures are generally applicable to most machines under the manufacturer's foreseeable use conditions, while also taking into account reasonably foreseeable misuse.
This document applies to machines used for processing solid wood and materials with similar physical properties to wood, whether manually fed or mechanically fed.
This document is intended to be used in conjunction with the safety requirements of specific machines (the safety standards of specific machines cover all major hazards of such machines). The hazards covered by this document are listed in Appendix A.
This document does not apply to machines used in potentially explosive environments or machines produced before the date of publication of this document.
