Scope

This standard applies to empty shells (hereinafter referred to as shells) provided by shell manufacturers before users install switchgear and control equipment components.
This standard specifies the definitions, classification, performance, and testing requirements for shells used in low-voltage switchgear and control equipment (such as those in accordance with the IEC 61439 series). Its rated voltage is not more than 1,000 V AC or 1,500 V DC, and it is suitable for indoor or outdoor applications.
