GB/T 3836.22-2023 Explosive atmospheres—Part 22:Protection of equipment and transmission system using optical radiation
Basic Information
Scope
This document specifies the requirements, testing, and marking for equipment emitting light radiation in explosive environments, including equipment located outside explosive environments or protected by explosion-proof types listed in GB/T 3836.1, but generating light radiation that may enter explosive environments. This document includes Class I, Class II, and Class III, as well as EPL Ga, Gb, Gc, Da, Db, Dc, Ma, and Mb.
This document applies to light radiation with a wavelength range of 380 nm to 10 μm. It includes the following ignition mechanisms:
——After the surface or particles absorb light radiation, the temperature rises and, under certain conditions, reaches the temperature required to ignite the surrounding explosive environment.
——In rare special cases, a strong beam of light focused at a point directly penetrates the gas, generating plasma and shock waves, which ultimately become ignition sources. Solid materials near the point of penetration can exacerbate this process.
