Scope

This standard specifies requirements and provides recommendations for the design, integration, and validation of electrical and electronic systems and programmable electronic control systems (SRECS) related to machinery safety (see Notes 1 and 2).
This standard applies to control systems used either independently or in combination, to enable non-portable machines to perform safety-related control functions during operation, including a group of machines working together in a coordinated manner, but it does not apply to portable work machines.
