Scope

This document specifies a small-scale laboratory procedure for determining the comparative combustion characteristics of polymer tubular materials. A flame is applied to a specimen supported by a wire or mandrel and maintained in a vertical position. After the test flame is removed, the time taken for the flame to extinguish and the combustion characteristics are measured. This document is applicable to comparing the combustion characteristics of polymer tubular materials. It is suitable for comparing the relative performance of materials and helps in material selection for quality control and quality assurance purposes.
